About Messenger Motorworks

The only aftermarket crew you’ll ever need.
We are Messenger Motorworks. Born during the viral pandemic that none of us will ever forget, the company was founded in late 2020 to serve as the foundation to purchase the assets and goodwill of Auto Trim & Sign and bring that long-standing local staple into the future.
We want to be the Quad Cities’ elite aftermarket installer. To that end, we’re working hard to develop our environment, processes, and methods to meet the high standard anyone should expect from a premium shop.
Messenger Motorworks is committed to a culture of kindness, respect, growth, and accountability both internally and in how we interact with our customers.

Joe Messenger
Founder
Joe is a lifelong auto enthusiast who has been following the industry since childhood. He built his first engine at age 16 and has been modifying and repairing cars non-stop since. It was only recently that he decided to earn a living with his passion, after a successful career in packaging as an engineer and manager. Joe loves collaboration and believes everyone in a team has crucial roles to play – and that culture is everything.
He is happily and enthusiastically married with two boys. His free time is spent chasing after the boys, out on the town with the wife, working on his own cars, or building up Messenger Motorworks.
While Joe respects all makes and models, his heart mostly lies with Alfa Romeo, Saab, and Porsche.

Annette Bartemeyer
Graphics Professional
Annette grew up taking good care of vehicles as a young child with her father and brothers enthusiasm. One of her brothers is a mechanic and taught her a lot about simple care techniques to keep the vehicle lasting longer. She has a fetish of cleanliness and respect for all motor vehicles. With that said she is happily married to a car lover and collector who loves working on and restoring them.
Annette loves drawing and got her bachelor’s degree in graphic design. For 15 years she worked in the wholesale trucking industry designing graphics for truck stops across the U.S. and Canada. That company closed and opened a new door of opportunities for Annette’s dream to design and install vinyl graphics on vehicles. With 27 years of graphic design experience and over 8 years vinyl and paint protection film experience she loves challenges with taking pride in custom projects along with helping on other projects throughout the shop, she makes a true asset to our company.
Her free time involves spending time with her husband, two rescue dogs (furkids), working in the yard, and maintaining a 130-year-old house, collector cars, going and being involved with car shows, season tickets to Indy 500 and loves to enjoy mother nature, golfing with her brothers and spending time with friends and family around the fire pit in the backyard.
Annette and her husband own several Prototype and Experimental Pontiac Fieros in their collection along with a Model T, Model A, Nova, Firebird Formula and many more. While she respects all makes and models, her heart mostly lies with the Fiero for she still loves the older classics that are getting rarer. Annette and her husband are very active in both the National and Local AACA as well as Midwest Fiero Club.

Acknowledging the past.
For decades, Auto Trim and Sign was a staple of the aftermarket community in the Quad Cities, providing quality products and service time and time again over the years. This is a new chapter for AT&S, and a chance to build on the legacy of honesty, integrity, and enthusiasm it has always presented.
